Asthma

What is Asthma?

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the airways, which are the tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs.

During an asthma attack, the muscles around the airways tighten, causing the airways to narrow.

At the same time, the lining of the airways swells and produces sticky mucus.

These changes reduce the space available for air to flow freely in and out of the lungs, making breathing difficult. Asthma attacks are triggered by an over-sensitivity of the lungs to certain irritants or "triggers," leading to inflammation in the airways.

Asthma Symptoms

Asthma symptoms can vary from person to person but typically include:

  • Coughing: Often worse at night or early in the morning.
  • Tight feeling in the chest: A sensation of pressure or constriction.
  • Wheezing: A whistling or squeaky noise when breathing, especially during exhalation.
  • Shortness of breath: Difficulty breathing or feeling like you can't get enough air.
  • Struggling to breathe: Difficulty taking deep breaths or breathing comfortably.
  • Tummy ache and vomiting: Sometimes asthma can cause discomfort or nausea, particularly in children.
  • Becoming tired quickly: Asthma can lead to fatigue, especially after physical activity or during an attack.

These symptoms often worsen at night, early in the morning, or during exercise, making asthma management crucial to ensure better control over daily activities.

How can Salt Therapy help Asthmatics?

Salt therapy offers a 100% natural, non-invasive solution for managing asthma symptoms.

When you sit in the Salt Room, you are exposed to microscopic salt particles that help cleanse and detoxify the respiratory system.

By breathing in the air, these particles reach both the upper and lower airways, providing deep respiratory benefits.

Salt's natural properties—anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-histamine—help to:

  • Kill germs and bacteria that cause inflammation and mucus production in the airways.
  • Break up mucus and relieve congestion and inflammation throughout the respiratory system.
  • Strengthen the immune system, allowing the ventilation system to work more effectively, so that even during an asthma reaction, symptoms are often reduced to something mild like a runny nose or sneezing, rather than a full-blown asthma attack.
  • Reduce the need for medications, helping you breathe easier without relying on pharmaceutical interventions.

With regular sessions, salt therapy can offer significant relief for asthma sufferers, helping improve overall lung function and respiratory health.
